TUI NA FOUNDATION LEVEL DIPLOMA IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) + ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY (A&P)
The BODYHARMONICS® Centre of Oriental Medicine was founded by Maria Mercati in 1992 to provide treatment and training to the highest possible standards in the traditional oriental healing systems.
Alan Orr is the only practitioner under Maria Mercati to be currently teaching the Tui Na Foundation course. The course Alan runs is to the guidelines and standards set out by the BODYHARMONICS® Centre of Oriental Medicine. Once you have the foundation level you can then also go on to study the Master Practitioner Course and Acupuncture.
Tui Na which means to ‘push and grasp’ is a medical treatment related to acupuncture. Tui Na aims to facilitate the flow of Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) through a system of channels called ‘meridians’. Stimulation of specific combinations of Qi-points on these meridians regulates and balances the body’s internal organs.
The Tui Na course is based on classical Chinese medical theory. This places emphasis on function and wholeness. Tui Na is a division of Traditional Chinese Medicine and ranks equally with acupuncture, herbal medicine and Qigong. The techniques of Tui Na and details of its uses in treating a range of health problems were already documented in a vast treatise - The Yellow Emperor’s Classics of Internal Medicine, written about 2500 years ago. After such a lengthy period of development and evolution, modern Tui Na is the most tried and tested hands on therapy in the world.
