U.K. Tung's Acupuncture Diplomate Program is structured for professionals who want to maintain their own practices while studying.    This program teaches in a systematic manner, the proper imparting of a complete lineage transmission from the Founder and President of ITARA, Robert Chu, L.Ac., QME, PhD.   All acupuncturists may join at any point of the series.   Collection of certificates for each module will make one eligible for the Diplomate.

As of recent, Master Tung's Acupuncture system has been misrepresented and only taught in a partial manner, often leading to confusion as to the proper use and context of the points.   Additionally, books have come out with incorrect point locations, or simply passing down one individual's opinion of how the points should be used from their own perspective.   Many think that Master Tung's system is only comprised of non-channel extra points, but few understand the clinical significance of the proper underlying principles and concepts.   Tung's Acupuncture must be taught with the proper principles and concepts to make it a powerful living system that can change and adapt with today's clinic, and with research, increase their clinical efficacy.

The curriculum and content is under Robert Chu, a noted researcher and practitioner of the Tung Acupuncture system.    The curriculum is designed to teach the complete core principles and concepts of Tung's Acupuncture, including Regular and Extra points, giving the concepts to flexibly treat all diseases, and allow the practitioner to have proper access for continued research and development of this highly effective system of acupuncture.

The program will include extensive training in:

• Tung's Regular Channel Acupuncture: Use of the regular channel points, relationships of the channels, 5 Elements; Levels of needle insertion, use of the Antique points; Treating Symptoms; Balancing Energy; Specialized Treatment Patterns and Groupings of Points, Face and Palm Diagnosis within the Tung System
• Point Location and Uses: Special Applications of the Twelve Channels, 8 Extra Channels; Yuan/Source, Lou/Connecting, Ben/Horary, Xi/Cleft, 5 element points, and Tung's 740 Extra points, learn how to coordinate Classical and Modern Acupuncture with the special set of Tung's points
• Traditional Diagnosis: examining the palm/face, Diagnostic Indications; Taking Case Histories; Assessing channel imbalance; Physical Examination methods
• Clinical Work Discussion: Presentation of case studies, Diagnosis and Treatment of 30 submitted case studies per student
• Treatment Planning: Principles and Priorities; Translation of Traditional Diagnosis into Treatment Plan; Addressing the Needs of the patient through mind, body, spirit; Methods of Treatment; Evaluation of Treatment; Determining Future Treatments
• Treatment Methods: Needling, Bloodletting; Moxibustion, Moving the Qi
• Clinical Observation: 14 hours arranged one on one with instructor
• The program will be conducted entirely in English. Participants must be prepared to devote several hours per week for individually assigned study and practice.

Seminars:   1 Introductory/Points Formulary seminar = 32 hours 3 Instructor Led material sessions = 48 hours Dao Ma/Practical Point Location seminar = 16 hours Clinic = 14 hours Subtotal = 110 hours   Independent Study, Tutorial and Research   Independent Study =    20 hours Case Studies (4 hours x 30 cases) = 120 hours Subtotal = 140 hours Total Hours = 250 hours Note: The independent study section of the course consists of intense self-study, utilizing self-study items, internalizing material covered, journaling of findings from observation hours, and practical application in the clinic. In order to maintain progress in skill development and self-development of this system of medicine, independent study projects were designed to be completed between meetings as assigned. The importance of these assignments and the time spent on them should not be underestimated. They need to be submitted on schedule for review by the instructor.

Eligibility

The program is open to licensed acupuncturists and selected students of Oriental Medicine. Admission to the program will include assessments by written application and interview. Because of the personal one-on-one attention provided to each student, class size will be limited and enrollments considered on a first come, first served basis.

The Opportunity As the only program of its kind offered in U.K., Tung's Acupuncture Diplomate program offers Acupuncturists the opportunity to learn this highly effective, proven Acupuncture system, noted for it's clinical efficacy, and become certified and recognized as Tung Acupuncture practitioners. (ITARA)" issued from the International Tung's Acupuncture Research Association and be recognized for their expertise and knowledge in this system of acupuncture.   In addition, they will be eligible to participate in advanced courses, internet discussion groups, webpages, referrals, seminars, newsletters, conferences and clinical consultations of the International Tung's Acupuncture Research Association (ITARA).
